The Memphis Police Department has issued a call for information pertaining to an incident of violence and vandalism at a local BP Gas Station. According to the department's social media post, yesterday morning, two suspects engaged in aggravated assault, simple assault, vandalism, and reckless endangerment at the station located at 4286 Macon Road. The official report, numbered 2501026541ME, details the events that unfolded as the perpetrators attempted to steal beer before turning violent.
As per the Memphis Police Department est.1827 Facebook page, the confrontation began when the two suspects, after an initial theft earlier that morning, tried to hastily purchase two cans of beer. Upon being confronted by the victim regarding their previous wrongdoing, suspect #1 retaliated by throwing cans of beer at him. The situation escalated rapidly when the victim secured himself behind a counter and called the police, prompting one suspect to disarm himself inadvertently and the other to shoot out the glass of the front door to make their exit.
The social media plea detailed how the second suspect reappeared, brandishing a handgun and demanding the return of the firearm he unintentionally left behind during the earlier altercation. "While the victim was standing behind the glass counter, suspect #2 pointed the handgun at him, demanded him to return the handgun that he left behind," the police department stated in a Facebook post. The man, after being informed that the police were in possession of the weapon, fled the scene in a white Ford F-150 truck. To date, no arrests have been made in connection to the case, and the police department has shared photos in hopes of gathering critical information from the public.
Members of the community with any knowledge about the suspects or the incident are strongly encouraged to come forward. The Memphis Police Department urges those who can provide assistance to contact CRIME STOPPERS at (901) 528-CASH or to submit a tip through their official website.
