
The Memphis community is in mourning following the tragic death of 21-year-old Patrick Houston, Jr., the son of renowned Memphis rapper Project Pat. On January 10, Houston was fatally shot in Imogene Heights, confirmed by Memphis Police. According to Action News 5, the shooting incident took place near the crossroads of Ketchum Road and Long Street.
As details regarding the circumstances of the shooting continue to emerge, the Memphis Police Department has not released any information about the identity of the shooter as of yesterday. The young Houston was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime, an event that has since rippled through the music community and the city at large. FOX13 added that the fatal incident occurred around 1:15 p.m. near Charjean Park.
Patrick Houston, Jr., also known as the son of Project Pat, whose real name is Patrick Houston, was a member of a family deeply integrated into Memphis's rap scene. Project Pat is widely recognized for his hip-hop contributions, including his collaborations with the influential group Three 6 Mafia. The local and broader hip-hop communities have been expressing their condolences and shock over the loss of Houston's son.
In the wake of the tragedy, fellow Memphis hip-hop artist Lil Wyte, a close associate of Three 6 Mafia, confirmed the death of Project Pat's son. "It’s very sad," said Lil Wyte, who extended his sympathies to the grieving family, the Commercial Appeal reported. Lil Wyte, whose real name is Patrick Dhane Lanshaw, added, "I sent him a pair of prayer hands," reflecting a heartfelt response to his contemporary's loss.
