On January 30, 1982, Officers Snow and his partner, both in plainclothes, were inspecting local businesses when they confronted the operator of Shirley and Sonny’s Pool Hall at 1658 W. Hopkins for license violations. The situation turned violent when the operator drew a .25 caliber handgun and fired at Officer Snow. "Today we honor Police Officer Sydney Snow who died in the line of duty on January 30th, 1982," as reported by the Milwaukee Police Department.
Officer Sydney Snow, 29, of the Milwaukee Police Department, was fatally injured while responding to a threat. He returned fire, and with his partner’s help, the perpetrator was killed. "Police Officer Sydney Snow was 29-years-old and had served with the Milwaukee Police Department for 6 years." He is survived by his wife and parents, and remembered for his service and sacrifice.
