In a high-risk traffic stop last week, the Minneapolis Police Department netted guns, drugs, and four arrests from a single white car, according to a social media post by the Minneapolis Police Department. The action was initiated on a vehicle believed to be associated with a passenger with gang affiliations, and a history of violent criminal behavior. The stop involved a considerable police presence due to the dangerous nature of apprehending the suspects.
During the operation, the driver tried to escape but complied with the officers' orders to power down the vehicle, permitting, a safe apprehension of all four persons in the car. The police discovered two rifles and a backpack filled with two handguns, gun accessories, and six containers of marijuana totaling 771 grams. This stash is substantially over the legal limit allowed in a vehicle, creating a significant cause for the arrests.
The Minneapolis Police's post relayed their satisfaction with the outcome, saying, "We’re grateful for the courage and calmness these officers displayed while arresting a wanted felon and for getting more dangerous guns off the street." It was also noted that one of the occupants has a recent arrest record for unlawful gun possession. The individuals involved were booked into the Hennepin County Jail following the seizure.
Details about the identities of the arrested suspects and their specific charges are currently under wraps, as well as the investigation's possible impact on wider gang activity in the city.
