15-month-old Matheo Vasquez, who was the subject of an AMBER Alert after being taken last Saturday, was found safe on Monday. The details of his recovery have not been disclosed, as reported by Fox26 Houston.
According to KHOU, the suspect in the kidnapping, Jason Irwin Vasquez, Matheo’s uncle, is still at large and wanted on a kidnapping charge. Surveillance incurred last Saturday depicts Jason leaving a home with the toddler in a pickup truck. Efforts to apprehend him remain ongoing.
Joel Vasquez was arrested for failing to return his son, Matheo, to his mother after a visit. Matheo’s uncle, Jason, took the child. Brissa Ortiz-Perez, Matheo's mother, said, "Horrible. You don't know where your kid is. He's home. He's safe. That's all that matters." Authorities are searching for Jason, who is 5'6" with a tattoo on his right hand and driving a 2016 dark gray GMC Sierra with Texas license plate JZY5720.
