
A home invasion in Montgomery County has residents on high alert. In a recent incident, an armed suspect impersonated a law enforcement officer, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division. This took place on the 200 block of Hannes Street at around 12:50 p.m. yesterday.
The victim was reportedly approached by the suspect after hearing a knock on the door. The suspect then allegedly proceeded to force his way into the apartment, brandishing a badge and falsely claiming to be a police officer. With what is said to have been a black handgun, he demanded money and issued threats before making an escape. The Montgomery County Police immediately responded to the incident, embarking on a neighborhood canvass and issuing a lookout, which, as of yet, has not resulted in the apprehension of the suspect.
The description of the suspect discloses a Hispanic male, believed to be in his mid-forties to early fifties, of a stocky build, with salt-and-pepper hair and a beard. His appearance during the invasion included a black baseball cap, a black surgical mask, dark jeans, and a striped button-down shirt. "The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 45 to 50-years-old, 5- feet, 9-inches to 5-feet, 10-inches tall," as stated in the official press release.
Community members with any knowledge pertaining to the suspect or the crime have been prompted to share tips via the Crime Solvers of Montgomery County website. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect. Confidentiality is assured for those who step forward with information, as the tips may remain anonymous.
