An Orange County mother has filed a lawsuit against the Orange County school district after her 9-year-old son was allegedly sexually assaulted at Chickasaw Elementary School in 2022. As detailed in the legal complaint, the boy was in a bathroom stall when another student reportedly entered and assaulted him. The attacker is said to have threatened to stab the boy if he resisted.
Reports from ClickOrlando indicate a teacher eventually intervened, finding the other student in an adjacent stall with his pants down. The lawsuit further contends that "Chicksaw (sic) Elementary School's negligent supervision of (the 9-year-old boy) caused and contributed to this horrendous act of sexual violence by (his fellow student)." The family is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 for the claimed negligence by Orange County Public Schools (OCPS).
When contacted for a statement regarding the lawsuit, OCPS replied that the district's Office of Legal Services had not yet been served with any complaint. They also added that the district does not comment on pending or potential litigation, as reported by FOX 35 Orlando.
