A severe collision in Las Vegas yesterday left a motorcyclist critically injured at the intersection of North Eastern Avenue and East Cedar Avenue. According to a report by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), the incident, which took place around 3:53 p.m., involved a 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and two cars, a 2018 Honda Civic and a 2007 Nissan Altima. Preliminary investigations suggest that the Honda's driver failed to yield while the motorcyclist had a green light, leading to the crash.
As detailed by the LVMPD, the Honda Civic, driven by 53-year-old Bulmaro Salinas, was in the midst of a left turn on a flashing yellow signal when it intruded into the Harley-Davidson's path. The motorcycle, operated by 25-year-old Jose Nunez, then collided with the Honda before careening into the Nissan Altima, operated by 43-year-old Sanjuana Bibian. All parties involved remained at the scene to cooperate with law enforcement, and no impairment is suspected at this time.
Following the collision, Nunez was swiftly transported to the UMC Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries, where he was later admitted. Salinas reported sustaining injuries but did not require transportation to the hospital, while Bibian, the driver of the Nissan, also claimed injuries and was taken to UMC Trauma Center by medical personnel. A passenger in the Honda, Jose Rodriguez-Zamora, age 27, and a juvenile passenger in the Nissan were reportedly unharmed.
The LVMPD's Collision Investigation Section is currently conducting a thorough review of the incident.
