In Muskingum County, the notion of the rule of law and justice was ceremonially reaffirmed as Prosecutor Ron Welch and his team of attorneys took their oaths of office to mark the inception of their duties for 2025. The legal groundwork has been laid for the year's work as they ensure the prosecutorial commitments made to the citizens.
The official swearing-in event, which took place on Monday, saw Welch entering his second term as Muskingum County's lead prosecutor, his commitment to the rule of law and equitable justice underscored by the solemnity of the ritual, where Common Pleas Court Judge Gerald Anderson officiated the proceedings, Welch, in turn, administered the oath to the assistant prosecutors, echoing the gravity of their collective promise to uphold the legal standards of their charge.
Emphasizing the significance of this tradition, Welch articulated the weight of the promise encapsulated within the oath, "Taking the oath of office for me and my assistant prosecutors is our promise to citizens that we will uphold the laws of Ohio and the United States without prejudice or bias towards any person," Welch said, his words resonating with commitment to judicial impartiality as conveyed in the statement obtained by the Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office.
