
A major development is taking place in Muskogee, Oklahoma, with the groundbreaking of Stardust Power Inc.'s lithium refinery. The $1.2 billion facility will produce up to 50,000 metric tons of battery-grade lithium annually. The refinery will be built on a 66-acre site near the Port of Muskogee.
According to the Oklahoma Department of Commerce release, during the ceremony, Evan Brown, Executive Director of EDGE, highlighted Oklahoma’s role in energy innovation. He praised Stardust Power for choosing the state, stating, “This groundbreaking is another example of Oklahoma leading the country in energy innovation,” and added, “Stardust Power Inc. is investing $1.2 billion in Muskogee, Oklahoma, because they know we are the most business-friendly state in the country, and our history as an energy producing state creates a perfect environment for their business to thrive.”
Roshan Pujari, founder and CEO of Stardust Power Inc., emphasized the project’s impact on reducing U.S. reliance on foreign minerals. He also noted the creation of hundreds of local jobs once the refinery begins operation. Pujari shared in the same release, “With the land acquired and necessary construction permits secured in 2024, we are excited to break ground and begin construction,” adding, “With continued support from the State of Oklahoma, we are moving forward with becoming one of the country’s leading suppliers of battery-grade lithium. Stardust Power is proud to play a key role in safeguarding America’s critical mineral interests and supporting Oklahoma’s economy.”
The project will be completed in two phases. The first phase will establish a production line with a 25,000 metric ton annual output, while the second phase will double capacity with an additional line, according to the Oklahoma Department of Commerce.
