The Napa Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating a 1-year-old boy and his mother in what is being investigated as a possible parental abduction. Saul Martinez Rafael was last seen with his mother, 26-year-old Antonia Rafael-Valasquez, at her residence in Napa during a visitation that was supervised by Child Welfare Services (CWS), according to the Napa Police Department.
CWS workers dropped off Saul at 1:00 PM, and when they returned at 4:00 PM to retrieve him, he and his mother vanished. Officers investigating the scene discovered Antonia Rafael-Valasquez's closet contents were cleared out, adding urgency to the search. Despite lacking evidence of foul play, law enforcement officials consider the disappearance suspicious, and both Saul and his mother have been entered into a national missing persons database.
In pursuit of assistance, the Napa Police Department also turned to social media, posting about the situation on their Facebook page.
Detective Tyler Olson of the Napa Police Department leads the investigation into their disappearance. Concerned individuals with any relevant information are encouraged to come forward and contact the department directly at 9-1-1 for immediate assistance or contact (707) 257-9223 for around-the-clock response. Those preferring to provide information anonymously can do so via the Tip411 texting service.
