
A 73-year-old Newaygo man sustained serious injuries last Sunday evening after his vehicle collided with a semi-truck in Walker. The incident occurred in the 1200 block of Wilson Avenue SW when a semi, driven by a Minnesota resident, was backing into a driveway, resulting in the Newaygo man driving northbound and striking the semi's trailer, as reported by FOX 17.
The collision trapped the driver of the pickup inside his vehicle, necessitating extraction by the Walker Fire Department. Following the rescue, he was transported to a hospital for treatment, as noted by WOODTV. Officers from the Walker Police Department, dispatched to the vicinity of Wilson Avenue SW near Hall Street SW at about 10:45 p.m., confirmed the details of the mishap.
Despite the severity of the accident, the semi-truck driver walked away without injuries. Both WOODTV and FOX 17 reports stated that neither alcohol nor speed was considered a factor in the collision, as concluded by Walker Police.
