On monday, an EMBARK bus colliding with a truck left multiple people injured in southeast Oklahoma City. The crash, occurring around 2:45 p.m. near Southeast 27th Street and Walnut Avenue, caused minor injuries to nine individuals, according to the Oklahoma City Fire Department. As reported by News9, one person was in the truck and eight were aboard the bus, including the bus driver.
Of those involved in the crash, "six people including the bus operator were transported to a local hospital," EMBARK said in a statement to KOCO. In an upsetting twist, authorities are still unsure of what caused the crash. Crews quickly responded to the incident, and the intersection was temporarily affected while the area was secured and investigated.
The Oklahoma City Police Department is handling the investigation to determine the cause of the collision. In the midst of this ongoing probe, EMBARK has assured full cooperation and is actively gathering more details on the crash as well, affirming their stance in a statement retrieved by OKC Fox News.
Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses. EMBARK, which operates Oklahoma City's bus service, has not disclosed any changes to their schedules or procedures following the accident, but that information will be provided as more details are confirmed.
