An apartment fire recently swept through a complex in the Eldridge / West Oaks area, causing significant damage to the structure. The blaze began last Friday, at around 10:04 a.m. at the address 1715 Enclave Parkway, according to the Houston Fire Department. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as a result of the fire.
Firefighters were faced with flames erupting from the second and third floors upon arriving at the scene, the fire also making its presence known through the roof. A defensive attack was initiated by the crews to get the blaze under control. With the situation then deemed safe, an offensive strategy was employed to tackle the remaining fire inside the building. Conducting a thorough search, firefighters confirmed the safety of the building's residents, finding all persons accounted for from the 12 affected units.
The Houston Fire Department's report further details an estimation of $75,000 in property damage. The cause of the fire has been determined by HFD Arson investigators as accidental, stemming from careless discarding of smoldering materials.
A total of 50 personnel attended the scene, hailing from multiple stations, including Stations 2, 68, 83, 10, 28, 76, 77, 69, 78, 37, 57, and others, along with Rescue 10 and Rehab 42. The American Red Cross was brought in to offer assistance to those displaced by the fire. After the fire was extinguished, inside the building, the HFD Arson investigators were tasked with uncovering the fire's cause and origin.
