Oklahoma City residents can expect a chilly but mostly sunny day today with temperatures peaking at around 31 degrees. A persistent north wind blowing at a steady 6 to 9 mph will keep the wind chill factor at a biting 4 degrees Fahrenheit in the early hours. Daylight will bring scant relief from the cold as the sun makes a placid show in the mostly cloudy sky, according to the National Weather Service.
Tonight, the mercury dips slightly lower, settling at a predicted low of 17 degrees. That same northern wind, now 7 to 9 mph will continue to sweep across the city landscape. While the sun is set to dominate the skies on Wednesday, conditions will remain brisk with a high circling the 35-degree mark, as calm settles in the afternoon replacing the biting northern gusts, as reported by the National Weather Service.
National Weather Service Oklahoma City forecasts that the latter part of the week could see a shift, as cloud cover increases Wednesday night, bringing with it a chance of snow showers on Thursday. The likelihood of this precipitation event is 50 percent, with cloudy conditions persisting and the high again hovering near the mid-30s.
Snow showers might continue into Thursday night, possibly leaving a light dusting on the ground by Friday morning. There won't be much change in temperatures by the end of the week. Friday will be mostly cloudy, with a partly cloudy night and temperatures dropping to around 19°F, as stated by the National Weather Service.
Oklahomans looking forward to some outdoor activities can take solace in the weekend forecast, which promises sunny days with highs gradually increasing from 37 to a more comfortable 41 degrees by Monday. However, evenings will remain chilly, with the nighttime lows expected to remain in the low 20s.
