A tragic incident unfolded on the Southeast Side of San Antonio yesterday afternoon when two SUVs clashed in a lethal encounter. According to KSAT, one person has been confirmed dead and another remains hospitalized following the head-on collision.

The accident occurred around 4:10 p.m. in the 3300 block of Pecan Valley Drive, where responding officers discovered the aftermath of the crash. A 47-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 31-year-old man was sent to the hospital unconscious. The names of the individuals have not been released, but it has been confirmed that the 47-year-old man was behind the wheel of a silver SUV, and the younger man was driving a black SUV. The San Antonio Police Department indicated, that speed might have been a factor, as the black SUV reportedly was speeding northbound, crossed a median, and collided with the silver SUV.

As detailed by News 4 San Antonio, the silver Dodge Journey's driver was declared dead at San Antonio Army Medical Center. The driver of the black SUV is also being treated at the same facility. Both vehicles were Dodge Journeys, and no other passengers were in either of the SUVs.

Investigators are still piecing together the sequence of events leading to this fatal event. Although they have not ruled out the possibility of alcohol or narcotics contributing to the accident, police at the scene expressed uncertainty regarding such factors. As for the surviving driver, police have yet to determine if charges, will be pressed.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. Meanwhile, traffic in the vicinity of Pecan Valley Drive faced significant disruption as the area was closed off to initiate the preliminary inquest and to clear wreckage. Local residents are advised to seek alternative routes until further notice.
