A tragic start to the new year unfolded in East Charlotte as a collision involving a Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) bus led to the death of one individual and injuries to several others. The incident, which occurred around 8:30 a.m. along Central Avenue near Reddman Road, was confirmed by officials from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD). According to WBTV, the crash was described as "very serious."
Emergency services arrived on the scene to find a passenger vehicle and a CATS bus involved in the accident. Medic reported multiple injuries, with two individuals sustaining life-threatening conditions and two others treated for minor injuries, as per information obtained by WCNC Charlotte. The CMPD has advised motorists to avoid the area between Albemarle Road and North Sharon Amity Road on Central Avenue as the crash scene remains under investigation.
