A Palm Harbor community is in mourning after a man was fatally injured while crossing the street. The incident occurred earlier today on Tampa Road near US-19. The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the victim as a 44-year-old male resident of Palm Harbor, as reported by WFLA.
According to WTSP, the crash happened shortly after 6:30 a.m., with first responders arriving at the scene by 6:45 a.m. An eastbound Hyundai SUV, driven by an 41-year-old Palm Harbor woman, struck the pedestrian as he attempted to walk southbound across Tampa Road. Troopers on the scene said the victim was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.
This tragic incident has raised concerns about pedestrian safety in the area. The busy intersection of Tampa Road and US-19 is a frequent thoroughfare for both vehicles and pedestrians. Despite the severity of the accident, traffic was reportedly not impacted in the area, as noted by FOX13 News.
