On a chilly December night in Las Vegas, a pedestrian and a Cadillac XTS became entwined in a fatal circumstance that would not release its grip until nearly a month later. According to a press release by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred on December 21, 2024, when, at around 10:05 p.m., a pedestrian was struck by a 2017 Cadillac on South Nellis Boulevard at East Desert Inn Road.
The report explained that the pedestrian was crossing against the signal when they were hit by the car, which was traveling northbound with the right-of-way. The impact was severe enough to project the 39-year-old man onto the roadway, inflicting injuries that would prove to be life-threatening. The driver of the Cadillac, identified as 22-year-old Bryan Hernandez, was said to remain on the scene and cooperated with law enforcement, showing no signs of impairment.
The pedestrian, whose name was held pending notification of next of kin, was transported to Sunrise Hospital by arriving medical personnel. His battle for life came to an end on January 11, as the Clark County Coroner/Medical Examiner's office informed the LVMPD that he was pronounced deceased at Nathan Adelson Hospice. This tragic event marked the 160th traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD's jurisdiction for the year 2024.
The case, handed to the Collision Investigation Section of the LVMPD, remains under investigation.
