Two Rohnert Park residents found themselves entangled with the law last night, as a routine patrol in Petaluma resulted in a discovery of drugs and a probation violation. Around 11:15 PM, a Petaluma police officer stumbled upon Christopher Hyde, 30, and Jessica Atta, 42, while patrolling the business area along Lakeville Street, an encounter that spiraled into an arrest for one and a citation for the other, as per the Petaluma Police Department Department.
The situation escalated when the officer, during a casual confrontation, found that one of the individuals was subject to searchable probation, which paved the way for a more thorough inspection of the duo; during the probable cause search, they discovered over 30 grams of what seemed to be methamphetamine, pre-packaged in a manner that suggests distribution, on Hyde whereas Atta was found with drug paraphernalia, which compounded her troubles with an existing probation hiccup.
Details are still emerging, but the Sonoma County Jail records indicate that Hyde, now facing allegations related to possession with an intent to sell, is being held under the code 11378 H&S - Possession of a controlled substance for sale. Meanwhile, Atta, who was not detained, must answer to the charges of 11364(a) H&S - Possession of drug paraphernalia and 1203.2 PC - Violation of Probation, as she was cited rather than arrested at the moment.
