Philadelphia Eagles Champion Pet Adoptions by Covering Fees at Local Shelters

The Philadelphia Eagles have teamed up with local animal shelters to assist in finding permanent homes for pets, underscored by their commitment to cover adoption fees at selected shelters. This collaboration is ongoing until the end of the Eagle's 2024 season, as reported by NBC Philadelphia. Participating institutions include Providence Animal Center, Street Tails Animal Rescue, and Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center.

Providence Animal Center's CEO, Jo-Ann Zoll expressed gratitude for the partnership, noting the importance of visibility for the animals, "This is an amazing opportunity, and we are grateful to the Eagles,” she stated, as obtained by NBC Philadelphia. Eagles players, such as A.J. Brown and Cooper DeJean, mingled with the shelter animals, a gesture that helps showcase the companionable nature of these pets in need of homes.

According to a statement by Justina Calgiano, Communications Consultant of Providence Animal Center, spotlighting the shelters through this Eagles partnership opens up opportunities to reach an audience that may not typically frequent pet adoption sites. "It's an audience that the shelter might not normally reach, so I think that really elevates the awareness to pet adoption. There might be some Eagles fans who are purely focused on the sport, and they might not be browsing these adoption sites. So, when you bring both worlds together, then I think that could really mean a lot for these homeless animals. It could make a really big difference and mean more adoptions that wouldn't have happened without this sort of event," Calgiano said, as noted by the Philadelphia Eagles website.

The adoption initiative builds on the Eagles' "Dawg Mentality," a drive inspired by their playoff run, which encourages fans to extend their passion for the team to support animals in need.
