Runners, mark your calendars: The 2025 Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run is officially on track for May 4, with a starting whistle set for 7 a.m. The 46th installment of Philadelphia's signature 10-mile challenge will take contenders from Broad Street and Sommerville Avenue all the way to a navy-yard finish line. The City of Philadelphia's announcement promises to expand the field, making room for 40,000 participants eager to pound the pavement in this historic run.
With registration set to open tomorrow at 12:01 a.m., aspiring runners should be ready to quickly sign up before the February 15 cutoff. Those swift enough to secure a spot in this highly anticipated race will face a $65 entry fee—a small price for the chance to join a storied tradition stretching back over four decades. Participants will receive an email confirmation the week of February 17.
From its 1980 inception with 1,500 runners to last year's more than 31,400 finishers, the Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run stands as a testament to the city's collective endurance and spirit. With each registration, runners will challenge themselves and be part of a long-standing tradition of athletic achievement on Philadelphia's streets.
