A chilling case emerged from Pikesville on New Year's Eve, where a 21-year-old man has been charged with the first-degree murder of his mother. Baltimore County Police were summoned to the scene of a domestic dispute that turned deadly at approximately 1:45 p.m. in the 100 block of Brightside Avenue, as reported by CBS News Baltimore.
Upon arrival, police found a distressing scene, with 57-year-old Melanie Fried fatally wounded. Her son, Xander Fried, had called 911, claiming to have killed his mother in defense, stating she was "a violent person" and had been armed with a knife. According to CBS News Baltimore, the young man repeated his confession to the police officers who responded to the scene that he had, indeed, killed his mother.
The victim was found with multiple stab wounds to her chest and hands and was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency responders' efforts. According to WBAL-TV, Xander Fried is now being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center, facing the most serious charges.
