As Plano bid farewell to 2024, so too did the city seem to bid farewell to a series of vehicle burglaries that had frustrated residents and law enforcement alike. In a notable close to the year, the Plano Police Department's Vehicle Crimes Unit brought to an end the criminal endeavors of two individuals accused of a spate of vehicular break-ins. According to a social media post by the Plano Texas Police Department, detectives across multiple cities had pursued the suspects for weeks before their apprehension in Dallas.
The suspects, identified as Vincent Hudgens and Angelica Smith, were arrested on New Year's Eve by a cohort of detectives from across Plano, Allen, Lewisville, Carrollton, Farmers Branch, and Dallas converging powers intending to halt the rampant vehicle burglaries. They discovered the suspects in a stolen truck which not only housed illicitly acquired goods but also personal information belonging to the victims and a firearm, the fruits of their nefarious labors.
Authorities have stated that Hudgens and Smith face numerous warrants along with additional offenses and are currently detained at the Collin County Detention Center as the investigation persists to return the stolen property to the affected individuals.
