In a commendable feat for public safety, the Plano Police Department has reported a holiday season free of fatal crashes. The department conducted a dedicated DWI mobilization initiative from December 13, 2024, to January 1, and was glad to announce the absence of any fatalities on their roads during this period, as shared on a Plano Texas Police Department's social media post.
However, the Plano Police Department also revealed a staggering number of arrests during their patrols, having detained 47 intoxicated drivers despite prevalent ride-sharing alternatives. Among these, eight arrests were the result of crashes (including two hit-and-runs), with only one person reporting minor injuries. The types of DWI charges varied, ranging from first-time offenses to felony charges including intoxication with a child passenger.
In an extended effort to enhance road safety, the department encouraged Texans to drive soberly and safely in 2025.
