This marks the third homicide at the Northeast 82nd Quality Inn in as many months, with shootings previously recorded on November 20, 2024, and December 4, 2024. The repeated instances of violence have compelled the Portland Police Bureau to consider designating the hotel as a chronic nuisance property, which identifies locations requiring excessive law enforcement resources. However, spokespeople for the bureau indicate that this is not a swift process. "Our concern level was raised in the beginning, when the first homicide happened. The fact that we've had these other two, in December, has only increased the urgency in that area," Sergeant Kevin Allen, a PPB spokesperson, said in a statement published by KOIN.
