
A neighborhood in Norman, Oklahoma is grappling with a power outage this Tuesday morning following an incident where a vehicle, specifically a pickup truck, collided with a power pole at the junction of 24th Avenue Southeast and Wheatland Drive, resulting in a widespread blackout affecting the locality, as reported by News 9.
The mishap compelled the Norman Police Department to spring into action, responding to the crash site which necessitated the shutdown of both southbound lanes of 24th Avenue Southeast, according to a report from News 9, traffic has been diverted as crews toil to clear the debris and restore some semblance of normalcy. On the ground, OG&E workers are stationed, hustling to reinstate electricity to the area as nearly 800 customers were plunged into darkness, as per updates on OG&E's System Watch, as stated by KOCO 5.
The collision, the specifics of which remain under investigation by local authorities has caused significant structural damage to the power pole, snapping it and leaving the pickup truck with considerable damage to its front-end, as stated in the coverage by KFOR. The extent of injuries, if any, sustained by those involved in the collision remains unclear. As a consequence of the collision traffic has been rerouted into neighboring streets, causing delay and inconvenience to commuters with the southbound lanes closed from Tahoe Drive to Twisted Oaks Drive until further notice.
