A fire broke out today at a two-story garden-style apartment building in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood, causing alarms among residents and responders alike. According to an LAFD alert, smoke was first reported at 11:39 AM from the first floor of the building located at 937 S Bedford Street. Firefighting teams were dispatched in an offensive mode, aiming to control the blaze as swiftly as possible. The Los Angeles Fire Department's initial response brought in multiple units to tackle the emergency.
Details on the fire were updated in a follow-up statement from the LAFD, confirming that the fire, contained within a single apartment unit, was knocked down by the concerted effort of around 30 firefighters in 15 minutes.
The effort prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent units in the densely populated area, a scenario that could have escalated the incident significantly. One individual, whose condition has not been disclosed, was assessed on scene by paramedics. The LAFD has yet to reveal the cause of the fire or the extent of the damages incurred.
