The northwest wind will sustain its strength, blowing at 8 to 14 mph with more significant gusts possibly hitting as high as 34 mph. These sharp winds have prompted a Hazardous Weather Outlook; west to northwest wind gusts between 35 and 45 mph are projected from mid-afternoon through evening.
As the weekend settles in, Saturday promises a sunny yet chilly day with highs around 41 and wind chill values dipping as low as 16. Wind speeds are expected to be less intense than today but will still present with gusts reaching up to 28 mph. The clear conditions will carry through to Saturday night with lows hovering around 24 and a calm northwest breeze.
The relatively tranquil weather is slated to stay through Sunday, bringing mostly sunny skies and a high near 46. Come Sunday night, however, the forecast changes with rain entering the picture. An 80% chance of precipitation is on the horizon, with lows around 35. Continuing into Monday, rain is again likely, mainly before 1 pm, and temperatures will rise to a more comfortable high near 55 despite the wet conditions. Monday night, the skies clear with a low of around 28.
Looking further ahead, the workweek appears to usher in a series of sunny days and clear nights. Highs will stay in the low 40s, with Wednesday night dipping down to a brisk 21 before Thursday's high peeks at just 36. Hazardous weather is not expected throughout this period, offering Raleigh citizens a reprieve from high wind threats and a chance to appreciate the sunnier days of winter.
