A Greenville man is sitting in jail without bond after warrants accused him of attacking a man and a woman at a gas station, leaving one victim with cuts, a forehead hematoma and a bleeding nose. James Felder Jr., 35, now faces three charges stemming from the alleged confrontation at an Exxon on North Memorial Drive.
Greenville police charged Felder on Monday with assault inflicting serious injury, assault on a female, and disorderly conduct, according to WITN. Warrants say the incident happened the day before, Sunday, at the Exxon station on North Memorial Drive in Greenville.
What the Warrants Allege Happened
Court records cited in the station's report say Felder cut a man's temple, leaving a hematoma on his forehead, and caused the man's nose to bleed. The same records say he also pushed a woman's face back with his hand during the encounter.
According to warrants, Felder was seen shouting at the woman and assaulting both victims, a scene that drew attention from people nearby. Employees and bystanders reportedly got out of their cars to check on the victims as the alleged assault unfolded, per the same account.
Suspect Held Without Bond
Felder, 35, was jailed without bond following his arrest, the outlet reported. The warrants do not identify the alleged victims or detail their current conditions beyond the injuries described in the court records.
Under North Carolina law, assault inflicting serious bodily injury is classified as a Class F felony unless another statute calls for a harsher penalty, according to North Carolina General Assembly records. Separate state law defines disorderly conduct as a public disturbance intentionally caused by a person who meets specific statutory conditions, per the North Carolina General Assembly.
No bond amount, court date or case outcome had been released as of Monday's charges. It remains unclear whether additional charges or statute citations could follow as the case moves through the courts.
