On the last Monday of 2024, Riverside County deputies had more than the new year to prepare for as a routine call led to the discovery of an assault rifle and the arrest of a previously convicted felon. According to details released by the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, deputies went out to East Hemet after reports of suspicious circumstances and ended up chasing down Isaiah Robinson.

Robinson, upon encountering law enforcement, ditched a duffle bag that contained an assault weapon and a magazine packed with ammo. His attempt at fleeing the scene sent deputies on a pursuit through various backyards between Orange Place and Dixon Drive, as detailed by the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. Their search benefitted from aerial assistance from "Star-9," a Sheriff's helicopter, and ground support by Sheriff's K-9 units.

The pursuit culminated in Robinson's capture, who was taken into custody and transported to Cois Byrd Detention Center facing charges that included weapon possession by a felon, resisting arrest, burglary, and theft. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office has encouraged anyone with information related to the incident to contact Deputy Miner at the Hemet Sheriff’s Station.
