Bowers recorded 108 receptions for 1,144 yards this season, surpassing Mike Ditka's 1961 rookie tight end record of 1,067 receiving yards and Puka Nacua's 2023 record of 105 receptions by a rookie at any position.
As the Raiders trampled over the Saints with a 25-10 victory, it wasn't just Bowers's record-setting that turned heads. Aidan O’Connell threw for two touchdowns, while Ameer Abdullah broke personal records with his first 100-yard game in his decade-long NFL career. "I put a lot of work in. I’m very consistent. ... I’m happy for it, but I still think there’s a lot more out there for me," Abdullah expressed, as per AP News.
Bowers's consistent performance throughout the season drew praise from his teammates and coaches alike. Quarterback O'Connell highlighted Bowers's reliability and routine, which seem to be the bulwark of his historic rookie season.
On his record-setting day, Bowers remained centered on the team's success over his personal accolades. "How can I help the team in the best way that I can?' Just catching the ball when it comes to me, that's kind of what I try to think of," Bowers told Raiders official website.
