Roseville Artist Sculpts Life-Sized Snow Lion to Cheer on Detroit Lions'Source: Google Street View

While the Detroit Lions gear up for playoff season, one local artist channels his support in a rather unconventional medium: snow. Edward Stross, known as "Gonzo," has sculpted a life-sized lion out of snow and ice, splashed with the team's Honolulu blue, and it's become a brief roadside attraction in Roseville, Michigan.

Stross, with his Gonzo Art Studios situated at the corner of Gratiot Avenue and Utica Road, didn't see just a snow pile, He saw the potential for a grand gesture of support for his favorite NFL team. His creation, which he calls "Gritty the Detroit Snow Lion," is igniting both local pride and social media buzz, with folks stopping for selfies and flashing thumbs up, Macomb Daily reported.

The artist's process, as uncomplicated as it is, involved packing the snow to give Gritty density and endurance, sculpting the details with nothing more than a screwdriver, and generous doses of blue dye to hit the right shade of Lion pride. His determination echoes the spirit of the Detroit Lions themselves, "They inspired me," Stross told ClickOnDetroit. "That's why I call it 'Gritty the Snow Lion.' You know, I had to have the grit to come out here and do it. So, you inspired me and the whole community."

Stross's allegiance to the Lions is apparent, unfortunately, the price tag on playoff tickets keeps him rooted to his studio, where, he jests, he shows his passion by braving the cold for three grueling days working on his frosty feline masterpiece. Every meticulous press of snow, every fine line etched with a screwdriver, is a testament to Stross's enduring support for his team—after all, "I'm not going to let it melt until they win the Super Bowl," Ed stated, as per WXYZ.
