In a brazen attempt that could have escalated into severe violence, a 21-year-old man named Brandon McGrath is said to have tried to rob a taco stand at gunpoint in Sacramento County last night. According to a social media post by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the incident unfolded near Fruitridge Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at approximately 9:30 pm. The employees at the stand heroically fought back, managing to wrest McGrath to the ground and disarm him, holding him until law enforcement officials arrived on the scene.
The altercation saw McGrath lose control of an unserialized Polymer-styled handgun, which deputies later recovered; the kind of weapon that speaks to the shadowy depths of illegal arms trading. The sheriff’s office confirmed in their post that no injuries were reported as a result of the confrontation, yet the specter of what might have been looms large, officials took McGrath into custody where he remains, his bail is set at $260,000 and he is scheduled for a court appearance tomorrow.
