
Tragedy struck a west-side San Antonio neighborhood when a nine-year-old boy was shot in the knee while inside his family’s trailer. According to KSAT, the incident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Monday in the 1100 block of Leal Street, as shots were fired through a fence outside the home.
During the chaos, a mother and her two children were in the midst of their nightly routine, preparing for bed when bullets pierced through the exterior; the young victim, who was indoors, was struck above the knee by a single bullet, as described in the report by KSAT, the child’s injury was thankfully not life-threatening, he was transported to the hospital, where his condition was stabilized, the San Antonio Police Department said. In parallel reporting by KENS 5, it was mentioned that the shooting took place on Leal Street near West Martin Street.
Despite being rushed to University Hospital with a gunshot wound to the knee, no further injuries were sustained by the other residents of the trailer.
