A recent case of kidnapping and sexual assault has stunned the community in San Antonio, with police apprehending 47-year-old Jamie Ray Rencher for his involvement in the crime. The San Antonio Police Department alleges that Rencher targeted a Conroe teenager online, convincing her to meet him before committing the heinous acts.
According to KHOU, Rencher has been taken into custody and is facing charges of aggravated kidnapping with an intent to sexually abuse. After coercing the teenager to enter his vehicle, she recounted to police how Rencher destroyed her cellphone and ultimately sexually assaulted her at a hotel. "I will not kill you. I will not hurt you. I will not break your bones if you just listen and obey," Rencher told her, as per the arrest warrant. SAPD is urging anyone with further information about Rencher or potential additional victims to come forward.
The incident reportedly escalated as Rencher drove the 17-year-old from her home in Conroe to San Antonio, with the aim of storing her at a friend's residence, only later to abandon her in a park which enabled her to seek help from a good Samaritan. MySanAntonio.com shared that multiple items, including red rope and a chain lock, were found in Rencher's vehicle, corroborating the victim's account.
With fears that there may be other victims, SAPD has underscored the urgency of this matter. "He drove her to a nearby hotel where he poured her three shots before tying her to the bed with a chain lock, red and black rope and black ZIP ties," the victim described of her harrowing ordeal, as the SAPD continues to work diligently with the Conroe Police Department to piece together further evidence, as noted by KHOU.
The authorities are pleading caution with the public, especially when it comes to social media interactions. Those with any knowledge pertaining to Jamie Ray Rencher or possible additional victims should contact the SAPD Special Victims Unit at 210-207-2313, with the assurance that all tips can be made anonymously.
