A youth mentor has been taken into custody by the San Antonio Police Department on allegations of sexual misconduct with an underage girl. The accused, 24-year-old Cesar Ulises Renderos, is affiliated with a nonprofit organization that specializes in mentoring young individuals, though the nature of their relationship has not been described in full detail.
The San Antonio Police has disclosed that Renderos, despite his position, did not meet the victim through the program he is associated with. It has been reported by CBS Austin that the parents of the 16-year-old girl involved brought the relationship to the attention of authorities. As part of the investigation, text messages exchanged between Renderos and the girl were uncovered, discussing a sexual encounter that they had allegedly recorded.
Renderos is currently facing a Sexual Assault of a Child charge, though more charges are possible as the case unfolds. It has been confirmed that none of the illicit activities took place on school premises, according to a public information officer for the police department. The suspect, upon being detained, declared to have some clearly done nothing wrong, as reported by KENS 5, during his transport in handcuffs to a patrol car.
The nonprofit organization Renderos is involved with has been noted to be fully cooperating with the police investigation. Authorities have stated that additional charges may soon be filed against Renderos, possibly at the federal level.
