San Antonio's growing art scene received a boost with new funding from the City's Department of Arts & Culture. The department has opened applications for the fiscal year 2026 Artist Grants to support the local creative economy, as announced yesterday.
The grants, available in amounts of $7,500 and $15,000, welcome artists from all fields, including Literary and Visual Arts. Both individuals and collaborative groups can apply for this funding opportunity to support their projects, according to the City's release. To access the full grant application, an Intent to Apply must be submitted by February 7. The application period runs from January 13 to February 21.
"Artist grants are fantastic opportunities for artists at all stages of their careers," said Department of Arts & Culture Director Krystal Jones, and offered during this gala of financial generosity. "Whether you are a first-time or returning applicant, we welcome the opportunity to connect with you," Jones told the City's news release.
An application panel will review submissions in March and April. In June, applicants will receive funding recommendations, followed by a city council vote in September to determine the final decision. Grantees will sign contracts in October, securing their grant funding.
