In a recent courtroom development, Geovanta McGee, 35, has been found guilty on charges of domestic violence and assault stemming from an incident that took place in North Beach last year. San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins reported the conviction, highlighting the effort made by her office to secure the verdict and emphasizing their commitment to supporting victims of crime and maintaining public safety. The conviction follows testimony that McGee struck the victim and threatened her with a knife, along with other forms of violent behavior, according to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office.

During the trial, evidence was presented that the victim, who arrived at a local nonprofit on September 30, 2024, had sustained injuries severe enough to necessitate a wheelchair and a cast. According to a press release from the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, she disclosed enduring a three-day ordeal at the hands of McGee, who, among other abuses, had dropped a chair on her while she was on the ground. After escaping her abode, the victim sought refuge at a community center, where she was finally able to receive help. The police subsequently arrested McGee in the victim's home without incident.

Assistant District Attorney Patrick McKuin and his team, including District Attorney Investigator Ted Marting, paralegals Lena Ku and Loretta Luu, and members of the subpoena unit and IT support staff, spearheaded the successful prosecution. The victim was supported throughout the case by Victim Advocate Kendall Anderson. McKuin stressed the zero-tolerance stance on domestic violence, reiterating the San Francisco District Attorney’s office’s dedication to the protection of vulnerable individuals, "The San Francisco District Attorney’s office will work tirelessly to protect the most vulnerable in our society," said Assistant District Attorney Patrick McKuin, as per the San Francisco District Attorney's Office

McGee has been released from custody, with sentencing scheduled for February 5.
