Adolph Patrick Greene, a 58-year-old man, faces multiple felony charges for a recent shooting incident involving a Muni bus in San Francisco's Mission Bay area. In an announcement by San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins, reported by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, the shooting took place on Monday when Greene allegedly discharged a firearm at an occupied vehicle and assaulted a public transit employee, among other alleged actions.
The situation unfolded when the Muni bus was at the intersection of Fourth and Berry Street, as reported by court documents; Greene was apparently in the path of the vehicle, and when the bus moved forward attempting to bypass Greene, he allegedly fired a single shot that shattered the windshield and lodged in a passenger seat. Fortunately, no one was injured or killed in the incident, which had approximately 15-20 passengers on board at the time. Greene pleaded not guilty to all charges, including possession of a firearm by a felon and destroying evidence, during his arraignment yesterday.
Following his arrest by the San Francisco Police Department officers, who also recovered the weapon from the nearby Mission Creek Channel with assistance from the SFPD Marine Unit, prosecutors have been successful in a motion for Greene's detainment due to the potential danger he poses to public safety. As such, Greene is currently being held without bail and awaits his preliminary hearing scheduled for next Tuesday. The incident remains under active investigation by authorities, who encourage any individual with additional information to come forward and assist.
