San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie is set to officially welcome over 8,000 visitors to the JP Morgan Healthcare Conference today, poised to be a significant economic boost for the city. According to the City and County of San Francisco, the event is expected to generate more than $90 million in economic impact. With San Francisco aiming to revitalize itself, Lurie highlighted the importance of the conference and remarked, "San Francisco is open for business. I’m inviting you, as industry leaders, to not just witness our comeback, but to be part of it."

In light of the recent tragic incident in New York City, the San Francisco Police Department has assured that it will be fully staffed to respond to any potential emergency during the healthcare conference quickly. "We are prepared to respond to any emergency in and around the conference as well as the other districts throughout the city," a police spokesperson said in a statement obtained by the San Francisco Examiner. In addition to canceling all time-off requests for officers, security plans include collaboration with various local, state, and federal partners.

In his speech, Mayor Lurie additionally outlined his administration's restructuring and focus on key areas, including public safety, housing, and economic development, stating, "Under my administration, we are facing our issues head-on, with urgency, and an unapologetic focus on results." This comes after Lurie's noted success in ending the city's three-month hotel workers’ strike, which has played a crucial role in allowing the conference and other major events like NBA All-Star Weekend to proceed smoothly, per the City and County of San Francisco.
