San José Police Department has made significant headway in the case of a gang-motivated shooting that terrorized a local neighborhood last year. On a midsummer morning, residents of Dubert Lane were shaken by a confrontation that escalated into gunfire. Among the five individuals arrested for the incident, two brothers, Ruben, and Victor Gonzalez, along with their associates Francisco Mercado, Corrina Namuleg, and Timothy Nelson, are believed to be part of the chaos that ensued on July 21, 2024.

The altercation started when the suspects threatened a man with an array of weapons, only to retreat and return with a more violent intent. Victor Gonzalez, behind the wheel of the suspect vehicle, was apprehended following a high-risk traffic stop by San José patrol officers on the same day. According to the San José Police Department, the shooting was not a random act of violence but laced with the insidious threads of gang rivalry. An investigation by the Gang Investigations Unit (GIU) detectives, supported by the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, led to the identification and subsequent arrests of the remaining suspects.

It was not until October and January that the GIU strategy bore fruit, rounding off the group suspected of turning firearms on a residential block. The recovery of the weapons, a significant finding in the investigation, occurred when Corrina Namuleg and Timothy Nelson were caught off guard as they attempted to spirit away a bag brimming with illegal firearms. According to a report released by the San José Police Department, officers discovered eight firearms, including both registered and unregistered weapons, and three privately manufactured firearms in addition to one machete and numerous rounds of ammunition during the execution of the residential search warrants.

All individuals in this case were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail, facing multiple felony charges.
