
A San Antonio Police Department officer sustained minor injuries in a crash involving a driver with active warrants on Monday night. The collision occurred near Old Pearsall Road and Hillburn Drive on the city's Southwest Side just before 10:00 p.m. According to KSAT, two males in a sedan collided with the officer's vehicle before striking a van head-on.
Following the incident, the two individuals fled the scene but authorities later apprehended them, it is still unclear what specific warrants the driver was facing, or the ages of the two males involved in the crash, the San Antonio Police Department has not yet released the identities of the suspects or the specific nature of the warrants which precipitated the police interest. As per KSAT, the officer was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries described as minor.
News 4 San Antonio provided few additional details, confirming that after striking the police cruiser, the sedan's occupants attempted to escape on foot but were subsequently detained by the police, investigators on the scene later confirmed that one of the individuals behind the wheel had an invalid driver's license along with the aforementioned warrants.
