The Houston Police Department reported a significant break in a case from last summer's fatal shooting that took place at the North Freeway service road. Authorities have apprehended Jrdon Mykel Joe, 22, a suspect involved in the murder of 23-year-old Christian Segundo. In the court proceedings, Joe has to now face the charges brought against him for this violent act.
Joe's arrest yesterday was executed by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, who managed to do so without any incident. This followed the earlier capture of Troy Kyles, 24, who is also charged with the death of Segundo. Both suspects are currently being held accountable in the 179th court for their alleged involvement in the events of that fatal night. A statement released by the HPD details how officers responded to a shooting report and discovered Segundo with multiple gunshot wounds, he was pronounced dead at the scene by the responding paramedics. According to authorities, witnesses observed an argument over a vehicle escalate quickly as suspects drew weapons and fired at Segundo.
With the investigation continuing, HPD Homicide Division Detectives H. Montealegre and K. Amri were able to use evidence collected from the scene, which eventually led to the identification of the suspects. Surveillance photos released to the public were a critical part of the process in identifying Kyles and Joe. HPD's efforts concluded with Kyles' arrest on August 12 and now, Joe's apprehension.
