
A tragic event unfolded in Severna Park last Thursday when a pedestrian was struck and killed by an SUV. The Anne Arundel County Police issued a press release detailing the specifics of the accident last Friday at around 6:50 p.m.
According to the police report, the incident happened at the intersection of Ritchie Highway and Whites Road, where a Mazda SUV was traveling southbound when it collided with 70-year-old pedestrian Barry Stephen White from Gwynn Oak, Maryland. The collision resulted in fatal consequences for White, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the responding fire department officials. The driver of the Mazda, identified as 27-year-old Da’Von Tawain Bell from Annapolis, sustained no injuries.
The Traffic Safety Section is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the crash, which remains unknown. The police have yet to determine whether speed, impairment, or other factors contributed to the occurrence; therefore, no charges have been announced pending the completion of the investigation.
