The fire prompted the closure of Union Ave between Apricot Ave and E McGincy Ln, as firefighters worked to control and eventually extinguish the flames.

The initial response escalated to a second alarm as crews arrived to find that the fire had quickly spread, affecting multiple residence units. During the firefight, one unfortunate patient needed to be assessed. The Santa Clara County Fire's social media update further revealed that "crews have knockdown on the fire," but not before six units were impacted, four of which have since been declared uninhabitable.
