
A homicide investigation is underway in Southeast DC following a fatal shooting that occurred last Saturday morning. According to a report released by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), officers from the Seventh District were called to an apartment on the 1300 block of Congress Street Southeast at around 9:27 a.m., after receiving reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, police found 21-year-old Raymont Owens, a resident of Southeast, DC, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS promptly responded to the scene, but unfortunately, Owens was pronounced dead after no signs of life were evident. MPD continues to delve into the circumstances surrounding Owens' untimely demise.
In their ongoing effort to apprehend the individual or individuals responsible, MPD is offering up to $25,000 as a reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in connection to the violent crime. The department is urging anyone with knowledge about this incident to step forward and assist in the investigation.
