St. Augustine Visitor Information Center Announces Renovation Schedule with Minimal Impact on TouristsSource: City of St. Augustine

The Visitor Information Center (VIC) in St. Augustine will undergo renovations starting January 27. The project will focus on restoring the center's 1935 heart pine floors and will last approximately 19 days.

According to the City of St. Augustine announcement, during the renovation, the VIC’s main exhibition hall will follow a modified floor plan from January 27 through February 4. The Gift Shop will be closed during this time. From February 5, the VIC will be fully closed for floor treatment, with operations returning to a modified schedule on February 14 as the exhibits and Gift Shop are reopened.

"The City’s objective is to complete the project with minimal disruption to daily operations as quickly and safely as possible," the City of St. Augustine stated. Essential services such as restrooms, visitor information, and kiosks will remain accessible, although with some limitations.

This renovation is part of a broader $3.6 million grant from the Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources. The funds will help restore multiple city buildings on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
