As a winter storm continues to affect road conditions, St. Louis area grocery chains Schnucks and Dierbergs have once again made the decision to close their stores earlier today. According to KSDK, Dierbergs Markets informed that all its locations would shut their doors at 3 p.m., following an early closure the previous day. A spokesperson for Dierbergs conveyed the stores' plan to welcome customers back tomorrow at 6 a.m.
In conjunction with Dierbergs, Schnucks also announced the early closure of most of its stores in the region, as reported by FOX2now. Having closed several stores early, Schnucks indicated that most of its branches will reopen at 9 a.m. tomorrow, maintaining the caveat that operating hours are subject to change depending on the weather.
The cold snap isn't showing signs of abating any time soon, with forecasters predicting bitter cold through Thursday, expecting daytime highs only peaking in the low to mid-20s. Morning wind chills are anticipated to plummet to as low as -15 degrees. As they navigate these frigid conditions, Schnucks will continue monitoring the situation to adjust store operations as needed, emphasizing that unaffected locations will keep their regular hours.
Further emphasizing the scope of these closures, a report by First Alert 4 detailed the specific areas affected, including not just the St. Louis metropolitan area, but also stretching out to regions like Cape Girardeau, Columbia, and Springfield. Outside of Missouri, the Illinois Schnucks store in Cahokia Heights will be among those closing as early as noon. In the midst of closing several locations due to the weather, Schnucks and Dierbergs will remain vigilant and promise to keep customers informed regarding any necessary changes to store hours.
