In an effort to assist residents grappling with the legal system, St. Louis has announced the launch of a weekly Tap In Center, set to begin on Wednesday. This initiative is designed to help those with outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants to get the support they need.
Every Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., individuals can come to the Central Library, located at 1301 Olive Street, where they will have the opportunity to consult with case managers. The aim is to aid people in resolving their pending warrants in the city of St. Louis. The assistance extends to obtaining information about their cases, acquiring court dates, and the application for public defenders. There's also a chance to learn about the support services offered by the 22nd Circuit's Pretrial Services Office. According to the news release from the St. Louis City Circuit Court, this program is a partnership involving the court's Pretrial Services, the MacArthur Foundation Safety & Justice Challenge, and the St. Louis County Library.
For those interested in taking advantage of the Tap In Center, further information is available by calling 314-669-1853 or emailing [email protected]. This initiative reflects a growing trend in urban centers to provide more accessible legal and support services to residents, reducing the strain on an overburdened criminal justice system and potentially improving outcomes for all parties involved.
